How iv been spending my study time (Taken with instagram)
It was hard. But after months of being afraid to tell my dad that I was joining the army, I finally mustered up enough courage to talk about it. Obviously upset; he began trying to talk me out of it. As should every parent. But as the talk got deeper, and as I began showing him how passionate I was, his mood changed.
It must be hard having your child tell you that he will be knowingly putting his life on the line on a daily bases. Just the fact that you would have to let your child go after raising them for so long, and coming to terms with the very harsh reality that they may never come back. That is something no parent would ever want to go through. But today was the first time i saw my dad cry in 8 years. As he hugged me tightly he muttered the words,
“You’re going to be the best soldier there will EVER be.”
“9 year old Caine Monroy spent his summer building an elaborate cardboard arcade inside his dad’s used auto parts store, and invited the world to play.”
